Our story began after witnessing a patient die following a heart transplant due to reasons related to poor donor organ condition. Her loss was devastating — and she is not alone. While surgical and transplant medicine have advanced dramatically over the past three decades, organ and tissue preservation systems have remained largely unchanged. Ice-based storage, developed more than half a century ago, is still the global standard of care — a reality that may surprise many outside the medical profession.

We are committed to giving every transplant patient the best possible start to their second chance at life. We believe the odds of survival should be in their favour when they arrive in the operating room; that every life-saving donation deserves to be treated with respect and given the opportunity to make the greatest impact; and that clinicians should be equipped with the insight and information needed to prepare for the challenge of delivering a successful transplant.
